Louis Daguerre invented a huge wooden box in 1839, as the same time the lens of Achromat was made by Charles Chevalier, it also combined to become a camera. Louis Daguerre also invented Daguerreotype's method of using mercury vapor to develop the exposed Daguerreotype surface into a photo.

American Kodak Company was produced a new type of photosensitive material called "roll film" in 1888. In the same year, Kodak produced the first portable camera with roll film in the world.

Steven J. Sasson, the Engineer of American Kodak company in the electronic research center was invented the first digital camera in the world.

​Kodak has published the image sensor “KODAK KAF-5101CE” in 2003, directed against the first M4/3 system camera newly developed for OLYMPUS.

OLYMPUS has collaborated with Panasonic to promote an electronic viewfinder mirrorless micro M4/3 system is modified from the M4/3 system.

The first camera phone was the J-SH04 11 million pixels manufactured by SHARP in November 2000 in the world. This camera phone is used by CMOS, and it is because CMOS had the battery saving function compared with other camera phones. The battery of the phone will not run out quickly because of the camera function.
